About this demonstration
This is a research demonstration. Translations, AI-generated recordings and passage matching are awaiting language review. It is not an approved interpreting service or a route to enrol in the study.
This companion demonstrates reading and listening to fixed study information in English, Bengali, Urdu, Gujarati and Czech. It reuses an existing prototype’s text and recordings. It does not translate or generate speech when you open the page.
What is available
The participant information has twelve sections. The plain language summary is available in full. The questionnaire contains three examples, not the full study questionnaire. Example answers stay in your browser and are not submitted.
Select a language at the top. With a translation selected, choose one or two languages for the display. “Both” reads each matched passage in English first and then the translation. You can pause after each passage, change speed, skip, repeat or use Focus view.
Recordings and review status
The fixed recordings use OpenAI GPT Audio Mini with the Shimmer voice, compressed to mono MP3 at 32 kbps. Translation fidelity, pronunciation and semantic passage matching still need human language review. Earlier automated checks identified possible wording changes, including in Bengali and Gujarati. Read the English alongside the translation where useful and refer questions to the study team.
The demonstrator’s source snapshot comes from the existing translation prototype. It must not be assumed identical to the latest official website. The Czech questionnaire reference uses different English sample wording from the other three translation packages; each recording remains paired with its own source. No text or audio was regenerated for this website.
Notes and privacy
Your notes, reading place and example answers are stored locally in this browser. They are not sent to the study team or a model provider. The site has no analytics, sign-in or submission service. Your hosting provider still receives normal page and asset requests. Embedded and full-page browser storage may differ. Download your notes if you need to keep or move them.
Source and reuse
The public repository contains the reader, fixed material sources, recordings, timings and rebuild instructions. Code and content have separate licensing notes. Corrections to study wording require corresponding audio and timing checks; edits are not automatically reviewed.
Visit the official UnityBC study website for current study information and participation. This prototype does not replace that website or its REDCap questionnaire.
